Raising money for Action Medical Research

The majestic mountains and sprawling lakes surrounding Keswick, in the Lake District National Park, offer a stunning backdrop as your bike, hike, and paddle around a course in a race against the setting sun.

Story

Action Medical Research are the leading UK charity funding vital research to help defeat the diseases that devastate the lives of sick and disabled babies, children and young people. At Action Medical Research we are determined to stop the suffering of babies and children caused by disease and disability. By supporting us, you are helping to find ways to reduce premature birth, to support children facing a lifetime of challenges caused by disabilities, and to develop cutting-edge therapies for rare and incurable diseases.

We will set off in the saddle from the event base in Keswick for a 40-mile bike ride around the beautiful winding roads sure to warm up the legs and get the heart pounding. We will be cycling among some of the highest mountains in the UK, Skiddaw dominates the skyline!

The 10.5 mile round trip begins with a steep walk up to Latrigg, a small hill on the outskirts of Keswick. From here the slopes get steeper as the path zig-zags upwards. Before long we will be standing on the summit of Skiddaw which has an altitude of 931m.

Finally, its Lifejackets on, it's time to get on the water. In open-top canoes or kayaks, your team will navigate a 2-mile water course off the shores of Derwentwater nestled in the glorious Lake District National Park.
