Story
Can you support Paul and Timea as they take on one of the most demanding treks in the Peruvian Andes to raise vital funds for LOROS Hospice?
This challenge will see them trekking over 60km (37+ miles) along the remote Ancascocha Trail a high-altitude mountain route far from the traditional tourist paths. Climbing to nearly 4,800 metres (over 15,000 ft), where oxygen levels are significantly reduced, they will face steep ascents, unforgiving terrain, freezing overnight temperatures, and five consecutive days of physically and mentally demanding trekking.
For Paul, this challenge is deeply personal. Having seen first-hand the vital role LOROS plays in providing dignity, compassion and specialist care to those facing life-limiting illnesses, he knows this support simply would not exist without the community stepping forward. What may look like an adventure is, in reality, a serious test of endurance undertaken so that families facing the hardest days of their lives are not left to face them alone.
LOROS relies heavily on charitable donations to continue delivering free, high-quality care across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. For every £10 spent on patient care, only around £2.50 comes from public funding — the remaining £7.50 must be raised through donations.
When Paul and Timea reach the end of this trek, it won’t just be about completing a mountain challenge it will be about knowing they have helped secure vital care for local families who need it most.
Your support, no matter the amount, will make a genuine difference.
