Story

Three Dads. One Half Marathon. Questionable Life Choices.

Somewhere between school runs, bedtime battles, forgotten PE kits and wondering where all our free time went, we somehow agreed to run the Leicester Half Marathon.

This is entirely Pete's fault.

Back in September 2024, Pete convinced (or simply wore down) Shervin and Jay into signing up for a Wolf Run. We were, to put it politely, woefully underprepared. We survived... just about... but realised if we were ever going to do anything like that again, we'd need to get a bit fitter.

So we started doing the odd Saturday morning parkrun.

The idea was to improve our fitness. Instead, it became a weekly ritual. These days we're there every Saturday morning... although if we're being honest, we mainly go for the coffee afterwards.

What started as "let's get fit enough for a Wolf Run" soon spiralled out of control. We completed the Wolf Run Trilogy in 2025, entered a few 10Ks, and gradually went from running 5km a week to 10, then 20... and now we're somehow clocking up around 30km most weeks.

Which brings us to the Leicester Half Marathon.

There are three of us taking it on. Two of us think running 13.1 miles sounds absolutely ridiculous. The third genuinely thinks it'll be fun. We suspect he'll change his mind somewhere around mile 10.

As three dads with young families, training has meant early mornings, late evenings, negotiating with our wives, and occasionally explaining why we're voluntarily paying money to run long distances when nobody is chasing us.

Like so many families, each of us has been affected by cancer or serious illness in one way or another. That's why we're raising money for LOROS. The care and support they provide to patients and their families during some of life's hardest moments is nothing short of incredible, and if our aching knees, sore legs and questionable decision-making can help support that work, then every mile will be worth it.

If you can spare a few pounds, we'd be hugely grateful. Every donation will help make a real difference—and it'll also make it a little easier to forgive Pete for talking us into this in the first place.

We'll turn up. We'll do our best. We'll get round somehow. Then we'll celebrate the only sensible way... with a well-earned beer.

Our motto?

Outrun the drinkers. Outdrink the runners.

Thanks for your support!
