I’m Running the London Marathon to Support Cancer Patients — and I’ve Written a Book About Why

Since setting this page up, with your support, Gift Aid and book sales, we’ve already raised £5,000 for Lingen Davies Cancer Fund.

With match funding in place through Telford & Wrekin Council, every pound donated now goes even further. I’m now aiming to see how far we can take this — next stop £10,000.

In 2024, I was diagnosed with tongue cancer. It was brutal — the treatment left me physically broken, reliant on a feeding tube, and facing an uncertain future. But I came through it, thanks to the skill of the NHS team, the support of my family and friends, and the care I received from the Lingen Davies Cancer Centre in Shrewsbury.

I made myself a promise: if I recovered, I’d run the London Marathon to raise money for Lingen Davies. And now, here I am — training for the London Marathon and asking for your support.

Why Lingen Davies?

Lingen Davies Cancer Fund supports cancer patients across Shropshire and Mid Wales. Their vision is to help more people live well beyond cancer — I’m one of the lucky ones, and I want to give back.

Funds raised will also support the Sunflower Campaign, helping to improve cancer care locally, including new facilities in Telford.

Why Keep on Keeping On?

During treatment, I kept writing. It helped me reflect, cope, and stay hopeful. Those reflections became my book — Keep on Keeping On — which shares my story, the reality of cancer treatment, and the extraordinary power of care and resilience.
