Event: Midnight Walk @ Christmas, on 12 December 2020
Every June, around 1,000 people take part in our Midnight Walk. We had to postpone the event this year, but the good news is that were bringing back the Midnight Walk this Christmas!

Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page. On 12th December we will be walking 13 miles to raise money for St Catherine's Hospice, a charity whose support means a lot to our family due to current circumstances...

In March our mum, Linda, became unwell with what we initially thought was a chest infection/pneumonia or worst-case scenario Covid. She was taken into hospital with a collapsed lung and unfortunately was diagnosed with Covid but following extensive test's the doctors suspected that she may also have something else wrong with her. We found out that the breast cancer our mum had faced 13 years previously had returned and that it had spread to both her bone and lung and while treatment will help to prolong her life (and hopefully give her lots more time with us all) it can no longer be cured.

Although mum does not need to stay in a hospice at present, St Catherine's have been in contact with her numerous times just to ask how she is doing, see how her chemo is going and provide her with lots of advice and support. They have even spoken to my dad to see how he is also holding up and advised there is support for us all as a family at any time we need it. If mum needs to she is able to visit the hospice just for some respite (or maybe just to have a break from dad!) and in the future, if mum needs additional support from the hospice then we know they will continue to be there for her - and for us.

St Catherine's Hospice vision is for a world where everyone facing death and bereavement can do so informed, supported, and pain- free. Their team of experts are there for people in West Sussex and East Surrey when they need support the most and they rely on donations to be able to offer their pioneering care - and this year due to Covid they too have been heavily impacted.

I know that this year more than any other it's difficult to ask people for money but even if you can only spare a pound or two to sponsor us walking then we would be so grateful. It would mean so much to us as a family to be able to give something back to St Catherine's and to enable them to continue to be there for families during their time of need.

Thank you,

Lorraine, Suzanne, and Laura
