Our Polen Capital London office is partnering with Hestia, a charity making great efforts to tackle a wide range of important issues including modern slavery, domestic abuse, mental health, criminal justice and drug and alcohol abuse.

Focusing on one aspect of Hestia's work, 1 in 3 women and 1 in 7 men will experience domestic abuse in their lifetimes, shocking statistics that emphasise the significance of these problems facing our world today.

On 10th May, we will be taking part in Hestia's Race 4 Safety event to help fundraise for their efforts related to providing safe refuges and trauma support to victims of domestic abuse.

What does Race 4 Safety look like?

We will get driven 10 miles away to an unknown location on the outskirts of London, while blindfolded. Then in a teams or 2s or 3s, we must find our own way back without any devices, map or money. Un/fortunately(!), we are not allowed to hitchhike, so this is not only a game of navigation, but also fitness. Teams get given a burner phone that they can use to make a ‘lifeline’ call to Hestia, to get some clues if a team gets too lost. It should be as challenging as it will be fun!
