Story
We are a team of 6 colleagues from the Pumpkin Patch Nurseries that are hiking the 'Great Wall' to raise as much money for this incredible cause as possible. We are holding lots of events and setting our own personal challenges along the way to help us ge ready for what is set to be a tough challenge both physically and mentally. Five days and 30 hours of hiking will see our team hike some of the most difficult sections of the wall, taking in history, breathtaking views and finishing with the final challenge of climbing the 45 degree 'heavenly staircase.'
We all greatly appreciate the opportunity to take part in such an incredible event and want to thank everyone for the support along the way. This really is a team challenge and the team is much greater than the 6 of us, family, friends, colleagues, nursery families, the community, businesses and the hospice who have bought tickets, attended events, cheered, donated and taken part along the way, we thank-you all for your amazing support.
Chestnut Tree House is the children’s hospice for Sussex and South East Hampshire. Thanks to support from the local community children and families who know they don’t have long together have the chance to live life to the full. And, when the time comes, Chestnut Tree House is there for children and families to provide specialist end-of-life care and ongoing support.
The generosity of the local community makes this happen. It costs almost £6 million every year to provide hospice care for local children, with only 21% of this funded by the government. You can show your support by fundraising, volunteering, taking on a challenge, playing the Chestnut Tree House lottery, or leaving a gift in your Will.
