Raising money for The Compassionate Friends

London to Brighton Challenge 2024 · 25 May 2024 ·

The Compassionate Friends offers support and friendship to parents and families after the death of a son or daughter, at any age and from any cause. It also offers support, advice and information to other relatives, friends and professional carers who are helping the family.

Story

Becky, Claire, Jo and Carolyn have been friends since our children have been in nursery school - that's a long time! When Carolyn's daughter, Rosie, died suddenly aged 9 and half they (together with our friend Hiti, who died in 2016 of breast cancer) were always there for Carolyn and supported her with their friendship every since.

After the loss of Rosie, Carolyn also found the support of The Compassionate Friends (TCF) - through meeting other bereaved parents Carolyn found it was somehow possible to find ways to live without Rosie physically here. Now Carolyn works for TCF and is passionate about ensuring that all parents bereaved of a child can find and access the support that was a lifeline for her.

The fundraising environment for bereavement charities is really challenging right now - as so much funding has been diverted to cost of living causes. So, that's why we have all decided to walk 100km from Richmond to Brighton over 2 days to raise funds to help to continue and develop TCF's services and support for grieving parents. We would be grateful for any support you can give in memory of Rosie and for TCF.

The Team photo is from our first training walk around Richmond Park.

Thank you.
