My mum was very unwell for 5 years before she received the awful news she had lung cancer, this was back in 2014 and she passed away in 2015 although not directly caused by the cancer it was the Chemo which brought on complications. My dad was devastated and lived the following, nearly, 6 years longing to ‘go’ and be with her. He was given his lung cancer diagnosis January 2020 and we spent the year being so careful to avoid him getting Covid, thankfully he never did. January 17th 2021 my dad passed away with my brother, sister and myself by his side after having looked after him at home. This was the hardest time I have ever experienced in my life and the Hospice together with district nurses supported us through some very very difficult days. We as a family will be forever grateful and this is just a small way we can try to help them and indeed the families just like us they need to help in the future.
