Team fundraising for Galloway Mountain Rescue Team

Raising money for Galloway Mountain Rescue Team

Galloway MRT is a voluntary organisation providing search and rescue to the public in South-West Scotland at the request of Police Scotland.

Story

108 Miles. 60 Hours. One Lifesaving Goal for Galloway MRT.

Hi everyone, and thank you for visiting our fundraising page.

On June 13th, the two of us (Ross McConchie and James Anderson) are stepping up to the start line of the Montane Summer MRT Challenge South — widely known as one of the most grueling, physically demanding ultra-endurance challenges in the UK.

We will be attempting to navigate 108 miles non-stop along the Pennine Way, trekking all the way from Edale to Hawes. With a brutal 60-hour strict time limit, massive elevation, and the unpredictable British weather, we are under no illusions about how tough this is going to be. The blisters, sleep deprivation, and psychological hurdles will be very real.

But every step we take through the pain barrier is for a cause that keeps people safe when the worst happens. We are raising vital funds to completely upgrade the IT systems inside the Galloway Mountain Rescue Team's Incident Control Vehicle (ICV).

Why the ICV Matters

Galloway MRT is entirely voluntary, standing ready 24/7, 365 days a year to rescue those in trouble across our hills and communities. When a rescue operation or a missing person search is launched, the Incident Control Vehicle is the brain of the entire mission. It acts as the live operational hub on the ground—coordinating foot teams, managing communications, and mapping search areas.

In a missing person search, time is the enemy. Fast, reliable information makes the difference between life and death. By upgrading the vehicle’s aging IT systems, we can ensure the team has the fast, modern tech they need to respond efficiently and effectively when a call comes in.

How You Can Help

Every single penny raised from this challenge goes directly toward funding these vital IT upgrades.

Whether you can spare £5, £20, or simply share our link with your friends and family, your support is the literal fuel that will keep us moving forward when our legs want to give up on the Pennine Way.

Thank you so much for your generosity, your support, and for helping us keep Galloway Mountain Rescue Team fit for modern operations.
