Raising money for SASH

We help young people aged 16-25 in York, North Yorkshire and East Yorkshire who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. We do this thanks to a network of 'hosts' who have a spare room and who have been recruited and trained to accommodate a young person who is vulnerable.

Story

Somewhere Over the Run-bow

We are a team of (mostly) Yorkshire-bound runners. We want to help people who are in a vulnerable position because of lockdown, whilst staying safe and distanced ourselves. Running also has great mental and physical health benefits for us, supporting us to say well. There are seven of us like the seven colours of the rainbow, and the rainbow has come to symbolise togetherness and hope with COVID-19.

Message from SASH

Nearly half of the young people who come to SASH facing homelessness, do so because of family breakdown. Right now, there are young people in our community living in unstable family circumstances, surrounded by abuse - all they have to look forward to once lockdown is lifted, is the dread of being kicked out of their family home or making the impossible decision to flee a toxic environment.

Our expert support workers are predicting a rise in the need for our services after lockdown is lifted. We want these young people know that there is hope and a better life after lockdown. With your help, we can make sure that they have safe home and a bright future.
