Sam’s story…
On the 1st April 2024, Sam lost his life to Bowel Cancer at the age of just 33.
The onset of the symptoms of his illness was sudden and his deterioration cruelly fast. Sam received his diagnosis on the 5th March, by which time tragically, the bowel cancer had already spread to his liver, lungs, lymph nodes and spine. His diagnosis was terminal - he had likely been living with cancer, unknowingly, for up to two years.
Despite this, Sam wanted to fight and was prepared to take on the palliative treatment that was offered to him in the hope that it might give him another year with us. Sadly this was not meant to be and his health continued to deteriorate rapidly. Just 27 days after diagnosis, Sam lost his battle.
Sam was an avid hiker and passionate about the outdoors. He was motivated and ambitious - always planning the next challenge. Most weekends he could be found amongst the summits of Snowdonia. He accomplished so much in his short life - he trekked to Everest Base Camp, ran the London Marathon and sky dived for charity to name just a few achievements. Sam had a real zest for life. In the 12 months before he died, he summited Mont Blanc and spent an incredible 3 weeks last Christmas exploring New Zealand with his best friend Matt, where he dived with great white sharks - all ticks for his bucket list.
Sam was a wonderful soul, who is sorely missed every day by all those that knew and loved him.
In September 2025, we are taking on The South Coast Ultra Challenge - a 57km (35 mile) hike from Eastbourne to Hove. A challenge we are sure Sam would have loved and a fitting tribute to him.
This challenge is our way of honouring Sam’s memory, whilst also raising awareness and funds for Bowel Cancer UK - to fight the disease that took him from us too soon.
Bowel Cancer UK campaign, support and fund research, ensuring that more lives can be saved and improved. Every donation, no matter how big or small, will help support vital research, treatment, and those affected by bowel cancer.
Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts for your love and support, for being part of this important cause and for standing with us in our efforts. Any donation will mean the world to us and be so gratefully received.
Every step we take on this journey will be for Sam, carrying his memory with us 🤍
