Story
Three men, one marathon, and a very worthy cause.
This April, Mr Glover, Mr Sigley, and Mr Beardmore Junior will be taking on the iconic London Marathon 2026, swapping their usual roles in school—teaching, guiding, and occasionally reminding students to tuck their shirts in—for early‑morning training runs, questionable nutrition choices, and an alarming number of blisters. And they’re doing it all to raise vital funds for CAFOD, an organisation committed to tackling poverty and injustice across the world.
Between the three of them, they bring a delightful blend of determination, optimism, and mild panic.
Mr Glover, known for his calm professionalism (at least on the surface), has swapped staff meetings for marathon training plans and is wondering why no one warned him that “long run day” seems to come around every 20 minutes.
Mr Sigley, who maintains he was “talked into this,” is embracing the experience with the kind of enthusiasm usually reserved for school holidays. He is also discovering that running 26.2 miles requires slightly more preparation than “winging it.”
Mr Beardmore Junior, representing the sixth form with pride (and considerably younger knees), has taken on the role of team pace-setter, motivational speaker, and general reminder that youth really is wasted on the young.
Together, they are committed to raising funds for CAFOD, whose work provides hope, practical support, and long‑term change to communities facing hardship. From emergency disaster relief to sustainable development projects, CAFOD helps families around the world build brighter futures—something our runners are proud to support with every mile.
Why sponsor them?
Because every donation, no matter the size, contributes to life‑changing work. Because supporting CAFOD means supporting real people with real needs. And because watching three people voluntarily run 26.2 miles is a spectacle worth cheering on (and, frankly, financially encouraging).
By sponsoring the team, you’re not just helping them reach the finish line—you’re helping CAFOD reach communities that need compassion, solidarity, and action.
So please give what you can. Share the page. Cheer them on. And if you happen to see them running around the local area looking exhausted, offer a friendly wave… or perhaps a gentle reminder that it will all be worth it in April.
Thank you for your generosity and support!
