Team Child of Hope

Raising money for Child of Hope

Child of Hope is producing a huge social impact for children and their families in Eastern and Northern Uganda through free education, healthcare, clothing, food and welfare. Each donation goes to our work in the slums of Mbale and Karamoja and gets straight to work improving lives and communities.

Story

Micah and Adriaan are running the New Forest Marathon in September 2026 to raise funds for Child of Hope (CoH).

Adriaan: "Although I have loved doing Parkrun every week (,which is 5K) I never considered doing a marathon. Why would you want to put yourself through something extreme and painful like that? Until I started working for Child of Hope and discovered how much need there is among our school kids in the slums of Mbale, Uganda. I saw it with my own eyes when I visited Mbale in April this year. It suddenly made sense to take up this challenge and raise money for these amazing kids and their families. I know £5000 is a lot of money to raise, but I hope many people will donate and we come close to our target. And....I am not doing it alone".

Micah, an ex-paratrooper with marathon experience, has joined Adriaan [check out this video: https://youtube.com/shorts/58VdjxEqJnk?feature=share ]

The biggest challenge for Micah might not be the physical aspect, but finding time to put in the miles between work and changing nappies. He only became dad last May!

Our goal is to raise £5,000. What can Child of Hope do with this amount?

- Bring 30 mothers in our 2027 IGA programme where they get training and a some capital to start a small businesses

- Buy 20 tablets for secondary students so they can have access to the Internet and do research for classes.

- Support the food programme ensuring more children receive a much-needed lunch at school.

- All what is left is going to help us with covering essential running costs in 2026.

So please consider donating because every little and bog contribution makes a difference. Thank you 💛
