Story
In February 2002 my life changed for the better. In 2000 I was diagnosed with leukaemia and in 2001 I relapsed. After a period of intensive treatment I received a bone marrow transplant on 19 February 2002.
There were a number of tests carried out on my close family but unfortunately they weren’t a suitable match. Thankfully, Anthony Nolan had a register of people and there were 64 suitable donors for my required transplant. Someone who was a total stranger to me took the selfless act to donate their bone marrow and ultimately saved my life, this was thanks to the great work of the charity Anthony Nolan.
After a significant recovery period following my transplant and illness, I now lead a normal life. To celebrate my 20 year anniversary, Anthony, Dave, Steve and I will be completing the South Coast Challenge in September to raise money for this incredible charity. This is a 100km continuous walk from Eastbourne, past Brighton and on to Arundel.
