Mark Kan, father-of-two was diagnosed with leukaemia four years ago, and after treatment he was in remission. However, in June, he was told the cancer has come back. His best chance of survival from leukaemia is now a stem cell transplant. The challenge now is to find a matching donor. Unfortunately, all family members so far have not been a match.

There is a massive shortage of donors, particularly young people, who prove to be the best donors. Mark is originally from Liverpool, and is mixed race, with a Chinese heritage. I want to encourage donors from ethnic backgrounds to sign up as potential stem cell donors.

In order to show my support I am taking on a sponsored walk to raise lifesaving funds for Anthony Nolan. For someone with blood cancer, a stem cell transplant could be their last chance of survival. Today, five people will start their search for a stranger to save their life. Anthony Nolan is the charity that makes lifesaving connections between people with blood cancer and incredible strangers ready to donate their stem cells. It costs £40 to add each new potential donor to the Anthony Nolan stem cell register. Every new person on the register means another chance for someone to find their lifesaving match.
