Story

In 2025 we as a family received the devastating news that our amazing Mum had pancreatic cancer. Being the true warrior that she is, she underwent Whipple surgery and battled hard against this awful disease. Unfortunately we have recently been told that her pancreatic cancer has returned and is now stage 4. As a family, we are devastated, but we are determined to face this journey together with as much love, strength and positivity as we can. Something which our family does well!

Last week, in the middle of so much heartbreak, Mum also received the most beautiful surprise. Many years ago, she wrote a children’s story for her granddaughter called Jessica and the Magic Stones. Unknown to Mum, her granddaughter had kept the story all these years and recently had it professionally published as a surprise gift for her.

Seeing our Mum hold her published book for the first time was an emotional moment none of us will ever forget. Mum has decided that any profits from the book, which is available on Amazon, will go to Pancreatic Cancer UK to help support vital research, awareness and families facing this journey.

To support her, and to help raise even more awareness and funds for the fight against this cruel disease, our family is taking part in the Pancreatic Cancer UK “60 Miles in June” challenge.

Thank you so much for reading, donating or sharing, it truly means the world to our family.

Pancreatic cancer is the deadliest common cancer. Half of people die within three months of diagnosis.

Decades of underfunding mean we still don’t have the tests and treatments to tackle this disease. People with pancreatic cancer have been overlooked and ignored for far too long.

By donating to my challenge, you're making support available for people now and funding world-leading research.

Just £27 could fund a Support Line nurse to answer calls for an hour so no one has to face a diagnosis alone.

Pancreatic Cancer UK goes above and beyond for everyone affected by this brutal disease.
