About SportsAid
SportsAid’s mission is to encourage, enable and empower the next generation of athletes to achieve their ambitions in sport and life. We are dedicated to transforming the lives of young British sportsmen and women with aspirations to become the country's next Olympic, Paralympic, Commonwealth and World Champions.
To succeed in sport, it takes talent, dedication and hard work, but that’s often not enough to make it to the highest level. Financial resources and independent high quality support can make the difference between winning an Olympic medal and giving up too early on their dreams.
That’s where SportsAid steps in. For nearly 50 years, SportsAid has played a crucial role in the journeys of aspiring athletes, providing them with financial support, recognition, networking and personal development opportunities that help provide the support they need to realise their dreams.
The charity’s impact is undeniable, with its alumni featuring sporting legends like Dame Jessica Ennis-Hill, Ellie Simmonds OBE, and Sir Mo Farah. At the Paris 2024 Games, 82% of Team GB and Paralympics GB medallists were once supported by SportsAid.
SportsAid were one of the first people who really believed in me. If they hadn’t then I wouldn’t have become an Olympic medallist. I remember there were times where mum was thinking, ‘do I pay this bill, or do I go to this competition?’ So, to get that help from SportsAid helped us immensely and also boosted my confidence.
Dina Asher-Smith Double Olympic bronze medallist, world, European and Commonwealth champion.
