Intense conflict in Ukraine is threatening the lives and livelihoods of civilians across the country, causing hundreds of thousands to flee. Homes have been destroyed or are unsafe to live in. Essential services have been hit. Families have been separated. People have been injured. Lives have been lost.

We have created a team who are planning to cover 1500 miles between us in a month (the distance from Ukraine to Manchester) to help Ukrainian refugees who are fleeing for their lives from the Russian invasion. We will walk, run, cycle and swim the distance from Ukraine to Manchester! I will update each members total in the story to keep on top of progress.

2 and a bit weeks in and we have raised over £2,000 for the charity, plus have covered over 1,000 miles between us.

We definitely need to aim for a Proclaimers this week though and we will have covered the distance! Then it's just the competition for the top spot.

DEC charities and their local partners are in Ukraine and across the border in the neighbouring countries. They are working to meet the immediate needs of all people fleeing with food, water, medical assistance, protection and trauma care.
