London to Bruges

Raising money for ST MARY MAGDALEN'S RC SCHOOL PTA

On 14 and 15 June, parents and friends of St Mary Magdalen's Catholic Primary School will be riding 200 miles from the school to Bruges, Belgium to help raise critical funds for the school and The Eve Appeal.

Story

Two days. Two hundred miles. Two important causes.

On 14 and 15 June 2024, Stuart and I will cycle from Mortlake in south west London to Bruges in Belgium. The bike ride is our first long distance cycle attempt as a couple in over six years, and we are doing it to raise awareness and funds for cancer research and for our local St Mary Magdalens Primary school.

How will your donation support the fight against cancer?

A portion of what we raise will be given to The Eve Appeal, a charity focused on raising awareness of, and sponsoring research to prevent and detect, five common cancers that affect women. This charity has been chosen to honour the memory of a beloved member of our school community. Hear more about how The Eve Appeal is doing research to ensure the women in our lives have a better chance of a cancer-free life:

How will your donation help the pupils at St Mary Magdalens?

St Mary Mags is a small( 200 pupils) and chronically underfunded state school, lacking the means to improve the facilities. Your donation will support the first stage of the plan to improve the playground and outdoor learning areas that are key to the physical and emotion al well being of our children. These types of projects are a great fit for funding from truss, foundations and government agencies, but these funding bodies want to see that part of the money has already been raised. The more we can raise from this ride, the more chance we have to unlock additional funding for the longer term complete redevelopment of our outdoor space.

Thank you for your support.

All donations will be submitted for matching on a pound for pound basis through bp's Employee Matching Fund - please give generously!
