Hi. We’re a team of 6 swimmimg friends, John, Darius, Mark, Kate, Jacob, & Tom, known as the Thornton Icicles AKA the Croydon Crabs. We like to go on swimming adventures together. On the 27th June we are going to be swimming a 12 hour overnight relay swim in Jesus Green Lido from 7pm to 7am.

Jesus Green pool is an unheated 100 yard (91.4m) outdoor lido in the center of Cambridge.

We will be attempting this epic challenge as 2 teams of three, swimming continuously though the night, one hour on, two hours off for a total of 4 hours each.

It will be a real challenge battling the cold temperatures of the night, exhaustion from long swims and the lack of sleep.

10km is the equivalent swim distance of running a marathon. We will aim to swim 70km total between the 6 of us throughout the night.

My team mates and I are taking part in this event to raise money for Level Water, a charity that provides 1:1 swimming lessons all over the UK to children with disabilities, so these children can have the opportunity to enjoy the benefits of swimming and fall in love with being in the water as much as we all have.

We strongly believe everyone should have the access and opportunity to learn to swim and experience the joys of being in water.
