Story
Our beloved lifelong friend Tom O’Hare was diagnosed with a Glioblastoma in July 2021, and left this world on the 9th September 2022.
Having been cared for with love by his family and friends (Tom’s Team), he was then cared for with compassion and great dignity at St Ann’s Hospice. During his illness we all discussed the need for more research on the causes and treatment for brain cancer.
The two charities are linked below - please, if you can, click on that link to donate to one or the other (or both).
Roger, Pete & I are raising money for both St. Ann’s and The Brain Tumour Charity, and have finally got our act together to trek across a section of the Pyrenees, reviving a half-baked notion Tom and I once had to arrive on foot and rendezvous with the Shrewsbury diocese pilgrimage to Lourdes. In our youth we all spent many happy times together in Lourdes as volunteer helpers.
Our hike involves five days and around 45 miles of trekking Westwards through the Pyrenees on the GR78, a trip that Tom would have loved, before we meet up with the Shrewsbury pilgrimage.
Thank you for reading this short description and if you can, please donate a little to one or other of these outstanding charities, to support the care St. Ann’s provides, and the important research done by The Brain Tumour Charity.
