Story

17/07/2021- We all have had a lovely morning and managed to complete the walk. The sun most certainly shone down on myself, Jayne, Tracey, Kate and Arabel. Tracey kept us cool by spraying us with her cooling mist whilst Jayne topped us up with sunscreen both much appreciated on a very hot morning with no breeze even blowing on the waterfront. Thankyou to everyone who has donated it is very much appreciated 😀🎉
I am doing this walk with some of my colleagues at University of Liverpool Libraries, Museums and Galleries - (University of Liverpool LMG Team). The Whitechapel Centre supports homeless people in Liverpool. The centre has support workers who assist street homeless with accessing services and at the centre itself they provide meals and washing facilities. They try and help people gain access to benefits, medical services and housing. They also provide support when a homeless person moves on to accommodation by helping with cutlery, crockery etc. The centre itself is a safe place to have a meal and hot drink and find support if needed.
The Whitechapel Centre Outreach Team are out from 6am in the morning until late evening, walking at least 5 miles a day to support people who are sleeping rough in our city. I am showing my support by joining this 5 mile Waterfront Walk along Otterspool promenade raising sponsorship to end homelessness.
