Story

This challenge is deeply personal. Myself (Jacob, 26), Evelyn (21) and Victoria are taking part in the MyWALKIt challenge for Crohn’s & Colitis UK in honour of our incredible mum, Victoria, who, at just 46, has faced more than many will in a lifetime.

Diagnosed later in life with Crohn’s Disease, she’s undergone not one, but two bowel resections in less than five years. What followed has been an exhausting cycle of biological treatments like infliximab, long-term steroid use, and ongoing battles with chronic pain, herniated discs, thyroid issues, and so much more.

Despite everything, she rarely complains. But the truth is, while she might look "okay" on the outside, Crohn’s is a silent and relentless fight - one that’s taken a huge toll not just physically, but mentally too. Before her health declined, Mum dedicated most of her career to health and social care, always looking after others. Now, she can’t work. And for someone who found so much purpose in helping others, that loss of identity has been one of the hardest parts.

While she’s currently in a better place physically, every day remains a struggle - one that isn’t always visible. And that’s why we’re walking. For her, and for the thousands like her, silently pushing through the pain of inflammatory bowel disease.

On Saturday 28th June 2025, we’re taking the Hadzor Circular Walk in Droitwich as a three. This route is 4.5 miles and starts in one of the beloved parks in our home town.

Your support will help fund vital research, better treatments, and much-needed support for those living with Crohn’s and Colitis.

Please, if you can, donate - for my mum, and for everyone fighting battles we can’t always see.

Thank you.
