Story
These 5km runs across UAL colleges are being organised for the Wellbeing Festival as part of Mental Health Awareness Week 2024 - which has the theme of "Movement: Moving more for our mental health".
For UAL staff it will be a opportunity to meet and connect with colleagues, discover local green areas and running routes, and enjoy all the benefits of movement and being outdoors, as well as challenging themselves for charity.
Some will run 5km, some will run several 5kms in one day!
Those that are getting sponsored are doing so for the The Running Charity. A charity that believes that running is as good for your mind as it is for your body. Running builds resilience and self-esteem, and they use this to improve the lives of 16-25 year-olds who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Homelessness can happen at any time and to anyone. And when it happens to a young person it can affect them for the rest of their life. They use running to improve fitness and instil a goal-setting mentality that are key tools in helping these vulnerable young people to build healthy, sustainable futures.
Thanks for supporting UAL staff to take part in this challenge and giving to this great charity!
