Story
Hello and thanks for visiting our fundraising page for the Great North Air Ambulance Service!
About 18 months ago, after much persuasion (ear bashing! ) from one of our team members we decided to do the Great North Run in its 40th year.... all 13.1 miles of it!!! Unfortunately along came Covid so last year's run was cancelled but we have just discovered to our great delight that it is actually going ahead this year!! The route has been tweaked to try to keep risks to a minimum and so the masses don't all end up crammed in South Shields but there appears that there are still hilly bits (God help us!) and it's still a blinking long way! 😂 On the plus we end up back in Newcastle which is great (plenty of pub choices there for a recovery drink!! 😂) and not only that but we get to run over the iconic Tyne Bridge not once but twice so plenty of time to look out for the amazing red arrows!
Those who know us, will know we are all getting older and starting to fall apart at the seams with bad backs, hips, knees etc so getting off the sofa to get training in was the start of a challenging task which we are still working hard at! No laughing if you see us out and about pounding the streets looking pretty shattered. A beep, a wave or some encouragement would be very much appreciated, though a lift would probably be tempting too!!
Whilst we are out training and wondering how we will reach our next mile we would be extremely grateful if you would sponsor us for this amazing local charity. The work they do can obviously only be described as 'life saving' and the only way they can continue to do this is through charitable donations from the public as they are unfortunately not government funded.
Finally, we would like to say a massive thanks in advance for every single penny donated, it means a lot to us, even more to the charity and the world to those who unfortunately may need to use this vital service in the future.
