On the 5th of December 2022, Young Officer Course 228 will conduct a weighted (each carrying 15kg) march over a marathon distance (26.2 miles). The reasons for the weight and distance are based around The Queen's funeral. The cumulative weight and distance that we each carry and march is the equivalent weight of The Queen's coffin (315 kg) and the journey made from Balmoral Castle to Buckingham Palace (517 miles).

We are doing this to raise money for two very important charities.

Mind is a brilliant charity that supports anyone struggling with any kind of mental health problem. They campaign to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding of mental health struggles.

The Royal Artillery Charitable Fund supports serving and veteran Royal Artillery officers, soldiers, and their dependents when they are struggling to find funds for essential needs, such as domestic goods, support families who are caring for children with illnesses, special needs or disabilities, and many other needs.
