The Cobus Foundation Charity for 2013 is local organisation, FiND.
As a keen supporter of local charities, Cobus has chosen FiND, with the aim of increasing their profile and links locally and helping them to raise funds for a new sensory room at their site in Hessle.
FiND operates in various locations in the East Riding, providing valuable respite support for young people, their families, carers and siblings and is designed to meet the needs of young people and adults who have Autism Spectrum Disorder and associated learning disabilities. Their core aims are to enable people using their services to:-
• Improve their quality of life
• Achieve a greater level of independence
• Maximise their personal, social and communication skills
• Engage in life-long learning through individual programmes to meet their needs
• Engage in stimulating activities to improve their skills
• Learn to manage or improve their emotional health and well-being
• Engage in their community and access community resources
Autism is a lifelong disability that affects how a person communicates with and relates to other people and the world around them. By providing meaningful activities via a structured routine, indoors, outdoors and in the community, delivered by a highly trained and experienced team they aim to promote self-esteem and inclusion within the community.
FiND's mission is to support families by putting the needs of the individual at the centre. With Cobus’ support this year, we are hoping to raise vital funds needed to enhance the charity’s offering and improve the lives of local people.
FiND3’s Centre Manager Mark Mortimer adds “ FiND is a small parent led charity to help children and young adults with Autism and learning / physical disabilities from across the East Riding of Yorkshire and Hull. With the help of fundraising we are able to purchase equipment to help further develop the young people we support. This year we have been very fortunate to have been chosen by the Cobus Communications Group as their chosen charity, with their help we will be able to acquire other resources to enhance and develop the lives of those we support.”
