On Sunday 16th September, a team of 20 Durham School boys, staff, and an O.D. ran in the Great North Run; having raised over £45 000 for charity in the last three years, the team ran on behalf of the Rainbow Trust, a charity which supports families with terminally-ill children.
The Rainbow Trust was chosen partly for personal reasons. In December last year, my sister-in-law gave birth to a little girl, Lily; unfortunately, Lily was diagnosed with spinal muscular atrophy in January and given only a few months to live. Lily defied her doctors and outlived her prognosis; sadly, she died on Friday 21st September. Having seen how charities such as the Rainbow Trust are able to support such children as Lily and their families at the worst point in life, we know that any fundraising we can do will be put to good use.
Please support the team via the links below; we ran for a great cause; whatever you are able to give will be much appreciated.
