In February this year I was diagnosed with a blood cancer of the immune system called Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma.
One in two of us will get cancer at some point in our lives, and being a Firefighter means I am twice as likely to get it as the rest of the population due to the continued exposure to hazardous chemicals. So it shouldn’t be much of a surprise.
My cancer isn’t curable, so I’m running this years Great North Run to raise money for Cancer Research UK, in the hope that one day they will develop a cure. I also want to raise money for the Firefighters charity. There are many Firefighters across the UK who are suffering ill health due to the work we do, and the Firefighters charity is there to support them.
Any donation you can make, no matter how small it is greatly appreciated.
Thank you
