On the 9th June, 12 Maidwell Boys will be walking from one side of the Lake District to the other. For 3 nights, we will ascend over England's two highest mountains and overall, we will walk around 32 miles. We will also be accompanied by one parent each. We'll be carrying very heavy rucksacks containing all of our provisions including: food, clothes, tents, sleeping bags and more.
The expedition is unsupported with all three nights spent camping and one of those nights will be spent in a wild campsite. It's going to be a hard challenge for all of us but we will be inspired by the beautiful scenery and the fact we are fundraising for Great Ormond Street Hospital. We all know what is in store as we have completed our training walk in the Peak District.
Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) is one of the top five paediatric research hospitals in the world. They treat children from all over the world right up until adulthood. GOSH has always relied on public support and that's why we're raising money and awareness. Our money will help GOSH to: rebuild and refurbish the hospital, buy vital equipment and fund pioneering research.
