"Gone, flitted away. Taken the stars from the night and the sun from the day! Gone, and a cloud in my heart" (Alfred Tennyson)
Thank you for finding our fundraising page. We have set up this page to support some of the many organisations which have been an enormous help to us during Owen's short life.
On 9 May 2011 our lives changed forever when we welcomed a new addition to our family, Owen Ayrton Sen. From the word go, our gorgeous little boy lit up the room with his bright blue eyes, coy smile and sweet, unobtrusive nature. Owen always seemed to want to not be too much trouble, even when he was hungry he would just give you a little nudge or gentle stroke as if to say 'I'm sorry to interrupt but when you've got a moment, would you mind giving me some milk, only if it's not too much bother. Please. Thanks".
Sadly our beautiful boy was born with a rare genetic disorder called LEOPARD Syndrome meaning he was profoundly deaf and had a very serious heart condition, hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy.
The first 8 months of his life were fantastic. We took him home and apart from a lot of hopsital appointments, he led a normal life and burrowed his way deeply into our hearts.
In January 2012, he suffered a sudden cardiac arrest at home and on 15 April he passed away leaving a gaping hole in our lives.
It was very difficult for us to decide which charities to support as there have been many that have helped us during the last year, but we have chosen three which are particularly dear to our hearts. There is a little bit more about each of the charities and what they've meant to us on each page.
Remember: Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never share them with anyone or send you unwanted emails.
