Nuffield health Northampton has joined the fight against Motor Neurone Disease!
On 1st March 2014 Ashley Snelling, the club General Manager and Kirk Harrison, a member of the studio instructor team, will be joining forces with long-standing client Morag Larsen, who has recently lost a loved one to the disease, to take on the Sole Destroyer 10km muddy race. Together, they will be team Nuffield Health Northampton.
The Sole Destroyer event is designed to test your fitness on an off road course that beats 4×4′s! A series of steep inclines, mud pits and water holes, plus a 200 metre lake wade. Team Nuffield Health Northampton has wholeheartedly embraced this challenge to raise funds for the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA).
Motor Neurone (MN) disease is a progressive disease that attacks the nerves in the brain and spinal cords (the motor neurones); this means that messages sent from your brain gradually stop reaching your muscles, leading to weakness and wastage. There is currently no cure for the disease and it can affect the things we take for granted such as walking, talking, eating, drinking and breathing – in short, it is life-changing. But with support from MNDA, sufferers and their families can learn to manage MN symptoms so that the best quality of life possible can be achieved.
The mighty Sole Destroyer 10km race will see the team tackling muddy obstacles, crawling under a cargo net and wading through a lake among other gruelling challenges. This race is not for the faint hearted, and Ashley, Kirk and Morag will use all their determination and sheer grit to smash the 10km race and get to the finish line to show their support for the MNDA as well as motor neurone disease sufferers and their families.
