Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
After the sudden loss of our daughter and sister Tegan Louise in 2002, our family were massively helped and supported by Derian House at an incredibly difficult time, and in so many ways that couldn’t have been achieved anywhere else. We owe an enormous debt of gratitude to them and have been supporters of them and their work ever since.
Sadly we weren’t aware of their fantastic work while Tegan was alive, providing respite and end-of-life care for children with life-threatening or life-limiting conditions, supporting more than 400 of them and their families across the North West. This care is only 12% funded by the Government, with the rest coming from donations. Needless to say, funding has taken a severe hit over the past 15 months as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic.
Each year the Manchester to Blackpool bike ride passes close by our house, and we have long had the intention to take part and raise funds for Derian. That funding is needed more than ever just now, and the date of the event this year falls on what would have been Tegan’s 21st birthday, so we couldn’t let the opportunity pass by without taking on the challenge and marking it in this way.
We’d be eternally grateful for any amount you can give in support of our ride. Whether your donation is large or small, every penny will help Derian’s dedicated team look after young people whose lives are often far too short, helping them to make the most of the time that they and their families have together in an environment of fun, respect and above all, high quality care.
Thank You !!
Allan and Bethan Critchley.
