Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My 8 year old grandson Jimmy has a friend who was recently diagnosed with autism.  He sat chatting to me about it for a while, and came up with the idea that he really wanted to raise money for an Autisim charity. I suggested he do a sponsored silence, but however we quickly realised he hasn't the capacity to stay quiet for longer than two minutes. 😁

The idea snowballed from there and he emailed lots of companies who have been very generous in donating raffle prizes including a signed Alan Shearer football ⚽ and signed Manchester United Pennant. A bake sale has also been organised for Monday 7th October 2019 3pm with the raffle being drawn afterwards.

I'm so proud of this lad for the passion he has shown in the quest to raise as much money as possible for this cause. We already, through Facebook have a donation page for The National Autisim Charity. But having spent time at The Alan Shearer Centre in Newcastle with his friend he decided that he wanted some of the funds to go to this local charity.

The Alan Shearer Centre is a highly specialist, respite, residential and social facility for people with complex disabilities and acute sensory impairments.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

About the charity

The Alan Shearer Foundation was set up to directly support the Alan Shearer Centre in Newcastle: a highly specialist, disability, respite, residential and social provision for people with complex disabilities and acute sensory impairments. We need to raise at least £250,000 every year to ensure that we can continue to provide free sensory and specialist leisure activities and offer free and subsidised respite breaks for profoundly disabled children and adults. Funding from the Foundation ensures disabled people and their families are able to benefit from all the specialist sensory, leisure and social facilities at the Centre totally free of charge.
