Story
The Joyners and Friends are walking the Marsden March, the 14 miles between the Royal Marsden's Chelsea and Sutton hospitals, on the 27th March 2011 to raise money for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.
We're walking in memory of Annette, a beloved wife, mother and friend who we lost to cancer in December. With her determined courage and the support and treatment from the doctors and nurses at the Royal Marsden, Annette was able to make the most of her last year with us.
When The Royal Marsden opened its doors in 1851 it was the world’s first hospital dedicated to cancer treatment, research and education. In its first two years doctors saw 654 patients. Today The Royal Marsden sees more than 40,000 patients every year, from across the UK and abroad, at its sites in Chelsea and Sutton.
As a leading specialist cancer centre The Royal Marsden is internationally renowned for its ground-breaking work in patient care, researching new drug therapies and treatment.
