Story

            Thank you for visiting our Virgin Media Big Ride 2009 Just Giving page.

Our Challenge

Following the example set in 2008 when Virgin Media teams cycled from to for charity, we are once again looking to push the boundaries and double the distance in 2009 with a 1000 mile ride from Lands End to John O Groats.  Starting in early September on the south-westerly tip of , we pedal our way through , over Dartmoor and north along the Welsh border, skirting the Lake District into , via lochs and mountains to the North coast and John O Groats.

 

The whole trip is expected to take 8 days, cycling 10 hours per day through some of the most beautiful and challenging countryside in the .

 

Our Charities

Through sweat, blisters, pain and dedication, the team are raising funds for two valuable causes: Cancer Research and Naomi House Children’s Hospice.

Cancer Research

Cancer Research is the ’s leading charity dedicated to cancer research to provide the information needed by patients, their families, health professionals and Government to help combat cancer.

Naomi House Children’s Hospice

Naomi House children's hospice opened in June 1997 to provide respite care, terminal care and bereavement support, through good days, difficult days and last days to children, young people and their families from across the south of .

Please note that donations made on this page will be directed towards Naomi House.  We will ensure that the corporate sponsorship received is allocated between Naomi House and Cancer Research in order that a 25:75 split of funds is achieved.

About the charity

Naomi House & Jacksplace hospices provide 24 hour care to more than 360 life limited and life threatened children and young adults from across central southern England. We offer respite, community, emergency, end of life and post bereavement care on good days, difficult days and last days.
