Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On Friday 28th / Saturday 29th May 2010 a group of brave (and crazy!) family members will be taking part in The 3 Peak Challenge.

What is the challenge?
The challenge is to climb, and travel between, the tallest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales. We are attempting to do this over a continuous 24 hour period. Starting at 6pm Friday evening and ending at 6pm Saturday evening.

The Three Peaks are:Ben Nevis (Scotland): 1344 metres
S
cafell Pike (England): 978 metres
Snowdon (Wales): 1085 metres

The distance walked is around 25 miles, the height climbed is around 10,000 feet, and the distance to be covered between the mountains is some 450 miles (we will be doing this bit by minibus!!).

Why we are doing this:
We are doing this for a charity that is very close to our hearts; The Williams Syndrome Foundation. It is very close to our hearts because Luke Clark, who is the son or nephew or cousin to those in the group, was diagnosed with Williams Syndrome from birth. Luke is now 2 years old. Williams Syndrome is a rare condition which causes heart and kidney problems and learning difficulties.

About the charity

The Williams Syndrome Foundation was formed in 1980 and is run by parents for parents of children with this rare condition which causes heart and kidney problems and learning difficulties. It desperately needs funds to finance its ambitious research and family support programmes which include national conventions and regional meetings.
