Story

Hi.  WELL WE DID IT !!  We all made it to the top.  Some glided serenely to the summit without even using all their gears.  Others puffed, panted, sweated and toiled to get there.  But we all did it.  A great achievement.  Now we need to capitalise on the post-event euphoria and maximise the final donations before we close the site.

We are mostly older guys with creaky joints, battered bodies after years of sporting abuse and many of us with a variety of sporting injuries.  What we have done is nothing compared to many of the amazing feats of courage and endurance that some people undertake in aid of charity.  However, every little bit helps and prostate cancer is almost as big a killer in men as breast cancer is in women.  In the UK alone, one man dies from prostate cancer every hour.  A non-smoking man is more likely to be diagnosed with prostate cancer than with all the other major cancers combined.

Everyman is very close to a major breakthrough in determining whether a man with prostate cancer has an aggressive cancer which needs an immediate operation (a tiger) or a benign cancer which will most likely lie dormant for very many years (a pussycat).  The effects of surgery or radiotherapy for prostate cancer can have very distressing results for all members of a family – between 50% and 80% of patients can become impotent and surgery can also lead to incontinence.  The successful completion of this project is vital for men all over the world.

YOU HAVE ALL HELPED TO MAKE THIS PROJECT A GREAT SUCCESS.
