Unfortunately due to a sudden onset of kidney stones I am unable to complete the challenge this time and will not be able to complete the 2nd marathon next week. It is very disappointing, but I will be entering for another late summer marathon as soon as I am able to get back into training.

We managed to complete the Brathay Windemere Marathon on Sunday, and the rain held off until the end! It was very hilly with over 10,600 ft of ascents and virtually no flat but was very beautiful with some great encouragement from locals and tourists alike.

I was heading for 4hrs until the 17m point but realised a little more distance training is required to keep the pace going to the end. It was tough, but I managed to finish just within my target timeframe in 4hrs 29mins. Most importantly injury free, so I am back training today for the Wharefedale Off-road Marathon on June 6th. The picture opposite gives an indication of what I have let myself in for!

Sean did very well and finished in 3hrs 56mins.. but I am still laughing at him walking - his quads are shot!
