Story
As most of you will know our brother Tom was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident in October last year at the age of 26. Tom was more than a brother to us, he was also our best friend, he was an amazing guy and loved a challenge, he was an avid explorer.
The three of us have always been totally inseparable and extremely competitive, when one steps up to a challenge the other two quickly follow suit but naturally in an attempt to do it quicker and better. To put it into context he often set the pace, 1 week before his accident he ran the Brussels Half Marathon in 1 hour 31 minutes.
So we want to use this entire year to set ourselves a series of challenges to make our brother proud and to rise up to the challenges he set himself (and us) throughout his short life. Therefore we will be taking part in the following events this year all in a tribute to Tom:
Blenheim Triathlon on 7 June - Done
London to Brighton bike ride on 15 June - Done
3 Peaks Challenge on 20 June (Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon in under 24 hours - Tom did it in 21!) - Done - 22hrs 36 minutes
London Olympic Triathlon on 10 August - Done
South Coast Olympic Triathlon on 30 August - Done
Nike 10k Run London on 31 August (Toms last 10k was just under 45 mins) - Done (but not quite as fast as Tom)
Mount Kilimanjaro in October (Tom was up and down in 5 days) - Summitted by all on 3 Oct
Grim Challenge on 7th December - Done
Oxfam works with local communities in over 70 countries around the world - with inspirational people who are determined to make positive and lasting changes in their lives. Oxfam was one of Tom's chosen charities that he frequently donated to and was keen to get involved in helping people all over the world. We have chosen Oxfam because of this and also with the current crisis in Burma it just seemed appropriate. So please dig deep and help our brother continue to make a difference. Tom, this is for you.
Tom has recently been awarded an honorary degree for his MBA. He was 2 months into the course in Leuven, Belgium when he had his accident.
Many thanks in advance.
