Story

I did it!!!

I completed the 13.2 mile course in 1 hour 44 minutes 35 seconds.  Despite a few aches and pains over the last few miles, I really enjoyed the day.

Thank you SO much to everyone who kindly sponsored me, it really helped me on the day knowing that so many people were supporting me.  I am touched by the amount of money that has been donated.

If you would still like to donate, you can do so using this page until the 25th May.

On March 25th 2007, I will be running the Bath Half Marathon to raise money for M.E. Research UK.  As I'm sure most of you will know, M.E. is an illness that is very close to me personally and has had a great impact on my life, as my eldest sister Naomi, who is 29, has been ill with M.E. for over 17 years.

M.E. (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis) is a chronic illness that affects many body systems and their functions, including the nervous and immune systems.  Very little is known about M.E., or what causes it.  There is no cure, and it is a very misunderstood illness, that is still not acknowledged by some in the medical profession as being a 'proper' illness.

M.E. has completely taken over Naomi's life: she was a happy 13 year old, whose life was literally taken away from her.  She is housebound, disabled, and relies completely on full time care from my Mother.  This has not only affected Naomi’s life, but that of the whole family.

It would mean the world to me if you would kindly sponsor me, and help M.E. Research UK with their investigations into finding out more about this terrible illness.  I hold onto the hope that one day their research will uncover treatments that will significantly help sufferers such as Naomi.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: ME Research UK (ME Research Group For Education And Support, MERGE) will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

Thank you so much for your support.
