Story

We've both known many close family and friends who've been affected by cancer, some luckily who are still with us and others who sadly aren't. The John van Geest Cancer Research Centre is based at Nottingham Trent University, where Tom's Mum used to work. It is a charity that some of us are already familiar with through fundraising efforts led by Neil Kelso at the Victoria Pub back in Beeston (where Tom is from). Neil was great at using a party as a way to raise money for this brilliant charity, and this inspired us to follow his example.

About JVG:

Established by Professor Robert Rees in 2008, the Centre has pioneered innovative approaches for diagnosing cancer better; for predicting how the disease will develop and respond to therapy; and for boosting the immune system to fight cancer, known as Immunotherapy. The significant advances achieved by the Centre range from improving our understanding of how prostate cancer spreads around the body, to helping take critical steps in developing new treatments for breast, prostate, brain and blood cancers.

Fundraising enables us to provide equal opportunity and make progress towards goals otherwise beyond our reach. Whether that is supporting disadvantaged students to achieve their full potential or financing pioneering health research, your donations mean more than you’ll ever know.
