Story
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
Cancer affects one in three people at some point in their lives. Although I have never had cancer I have been affected by it. I lost my grandparents Vera and Eddie to cancer in 1997 and 2001 respectively. My uncle, aunty and best friend have all bravely fought off this horrible disease.
In 2001 my mother raised over £5,000 for Marie Curie Cancer care in memory of her parents. She cycled over 250 miles across Vietnam.
I am now attempting to complete a similar challenge, in the footsteps of my mother and again in memory of her parents and my grandparents.
On 30 October 2010 I will fly to the country of Jordan, in the Middle East, to cycle 240 miles through desert landscapes and soaring temperatures of up to 40 degrees. I will have only five days to complete this challenge.
However, by successfully completing this task I’ll be helping Marie Curie Cancer Care to continue to provide care and support to terminally ill people and their families, in their own homes, completely free of charge.
You can help too. In fact, I can't do this without you. Any contribution you can make - big or small - will help patients with cancer to experience the best possible care, with the choice of being cared for in their own home.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Marie Curie Cancer Care gets your money faster and, if you’re a taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
If you would like to follow my challenge, and find out what fundraising events I have planned, please visit my blog here. You can also join my Facebook group here!
I cannot thank you enough for your support.
