Story

IT HAS TO BE DONE!

As most of you are aware 2 years ago I made a bet with a few of my friends to run the London Marathon 2009. After having a chat with my mentor and close friend Paula Radcliffe, we both decided not to run the 2009 Marathon as we didn’t feel quite right. I also thought that since this was my 1st Marathon, it was quite funny that they renamed the event for me. Virgin London Marathon 2010.

The time now has come to honour that bet and I feel proud to have a place for a very worthwile charity.

The Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability, as an independent medical charity, is a not-for-profit organisation, which seeks, through research and the provision of specialist services, to meet the needs of people with complex neurological disabilities resulting from damage to the brain or other parts of the nervous system.

Our friend Hugh Munro had an accident on the way home one evening from work. This accident resulted in Hugh moving to The Royal Hospital for Neuro-disabiility. Here Hugh received the care and attention that he needed to help him progress after the accident.

Sadly Hugh past a way last November, which was a shock to his family and friends as he seemed to be adjusting to his new way of life.

This is why I want to run for this charity and raise as MUCH money as possible. So please dig deep (including the guys that I paid out to for the bet!!) and hopefully we can help the Hospital continue doing what they do best!

Hope everyone is well!?

I just wanted to touch base with you all with regards to my training and fundraising to date.

So far I have trained up to half marathon standard, of which I completed in 1 hour 54 minutes. I did feel great after that and felt I could do more which is great at this stage for my training. I shall be increasing my long runs every week by two and plan to train up to 22 miles! With only SEVEN Sundays to go, it is slowly creeping up on me!

My main aim on the day is to complete the 26.2 miles, I am not worried about time (although it would be good to beat my dear friend’s times from last year)

On to the fundraising,

I attended a ‘Pasta Lunch’ with the Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability last week and this was a great inspiration for me as they showed the running team what they spent last year’s money on. The fundraising money was spent on an x ray machine which the hospital did not have before! This will help the residents at the hospital hugely!

So how can you guys help me?

Two simple ways;

1.       Sponsor me @ www.justgiving.com/tonywmullan where you can make a kind donation to help me achieve my target.

2.       Attend my charity event.

The event is Thursday 8th April

For one night only I have hired the Barracuda bar EXCLUSIVELY. Yes sir - a Thursday night which means only one day to survive at work!

Details of this event can be found either on Facebook –

Thank you for taking the time to read this, I know its long but so is 26.2 miles!

Hope to talk to you all soon.

Lots of love

Tony
