SPONSORED CYCLE RIDE
Whilst we're on our ride you can receive our updates via: www.twitter.com/GerringHilder
Our good friends Mark & Elaine were blessed with two beautiful boys (Milo & Oscar) in February 2008. It is with great sadness that just 2 weeks before his first birthday, little Milo unexpectedly passed away.
Starting on Monday 5th October, come rain or shine, we are completing (along with Milo’s father Mark) our own personal sponsored CYCLE ride of 215 miles across the Trans Pennine Trail from Southport, Lancashire to Hornsea, Yorkshire which should take us 5 days. We will show photos before and after the event which will clearly display the different locations and dates – for proof! We are aiming to provide daily updates via Twitter, which we hope you can join us in. More details to be provided soon.
Milo was born weighing 2lbs 13oz and with chronic Renal failure, and would have required a Kidney transplant during his teens. They received a huge amount of support from local and regional hospitals. The Nephrology & Haemo dialysis team at Southampton General Hospital ward G4, were at the forefront in caring for Milo and helping him to have a good quality of life, with good promise for the future, and supporting Mark, Elaine and Oscar, both when in hospital and when at home. This is the the Regional centre for the South of England and the Channel Islands for children suffering with Kidney and other Urology problems. The Consultants, Doctors and Nurses were immensely dedicated and skilled in the treatment and care given to Milo and always communicated to Elaine and Mark with the progress and changes of treatment required, often more than once per week. This was particularly important as Milo was fed via a nasal and then tummy gastric tube, with all food being balanced with the variety of results from the regular blood tests.
In memory of Milo Gerring-Hilder , we are raising money for much needed state of the art equipment on the Nephrology and Haemodialysis unit and for Kidney Research. We hope to exceed our target, so please support us, along with Elaine, Mark, Oscar & the memory of little Milo x.Thank you
