We empower children through education, to give children the right to a future!

Story

We are a group of Nottingham Trent University students (and one staff member!) who are travelling out to Sri Lanka in June to volunteer at the Rosie May Home, a small, family-orientated children's home which was set up in the wake of the 2004 tsunami and offers girls in crisis a hope for a better and brighter future.

Before we go, we are trying to raise as much money as possible for the Rosie May Foundation. As well as running the Rosie May Home, the charity also support the work of local schools and community projects. You can read more about their work here: http://www.rosie-may.com or watch the whole story here: http://youtu.be/kw5Cvrn5a6g.

As part of our fundraising, we are organising two group activities. From Monday 16th March - Friday 20th March we will be living below the poverty line, on just £1 a day for food and drink. On Saturday 21st March, we will be sleeping out in Nottingham City Centre.

Poverty - specifically rural poverty - continues to be a challenge in Sri Lanka and we hope that our activity will help us to raise vital funds to support the work of the Rosie May Foundation.

Our team members are: Roxanne Ablett, Megan Bailey, Anna Fortnam, Zoe Hollingsworth, Wendy Norman, Sunju Patel, Tony Peppiatt and Alicia Sansalvador. Also joining us are Danny Sam, Carl Benjamin, Darryl Osei Kuffour and Ash Eggington from Santander.

Please donate as generously as you can to this fantastic charity - we are able to get donations match-funded by Santander so every penny really does count!

Thank you for your support,

Rosie May Trent Team 2015
