Event: London Triathlon 2008, on 9 August 2008
We support people living with brain injury to give them the best quality of life

Story

In January, on a wave of new year optimism, the London triathlon sounded like a pretty good idea.  In July, with just under four weeks to go, i'm becoming increasingly less convinced.  However, although training could probably have started earlier, all is not lost.  I now have a wardrobe containing more lycra/neoprene-based clothing than I care to mention, I have the faint waft of chlorine about me most of the time, and I now know that Richmond Park is entirely uphill, no matter which way you go round.

In return for swimming 1.5km in Victoria Docks, whilst being repeatedly kicked in the face by men in wetsuits, trying to stay upright during a 40km cycle to Tower Bridge and back, and then dragging myself round a 10km run, i'm hoping you might give me some money.  It certainly doesn't have to be a lot of money, in fact i'll only think slightly less of you if it's nothing at all.

I am going to be raising money for the Royal Hopspital for Neuro-disability.  Based in Putney, they do amazing work with people with severe neuro-disabilities, casued either by accidents or by illnesses such as multiple sclerosis or Huntingdon's disease.  The hospital is not funded by the the NHS and requires £2.5m in donations each year to continue its work.  Anything you can give will be very gratefully received.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure, it's also the most efficient way to sponsor me:  Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability gets your money faster and, if you're a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.  The target above is purely arbitrary - it would be nice to raise a lot more!
