Event: Flora London Marathon 2009, on 26 April 2009
We help over 2,000 local people each year to live their precious lives well

Story

Thanks very much for sponsoring me in this my first London Marathon. I have always wanted to run the Marathon and not suprisingly i'm somewhat apprehensive, yet i am committed to finishing due to the worthy charity i am running for.

One of my best friends Ali Rainback was a very talented ski instructor who was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour in November 2007 and sadly passed away on the 22nd June 2008.

He was fortunate to spend his last 7 weeks at the Hospice of St Francis where he received the palliative care that only they can provide. Ali felt safe and comfortable in the special environment created by the dedicated professionals caring for him and which should be available to everyone.

I am therefore running the marathon to help with the fund Ali's family set up to raise £100,000 to fund a bed for one year so that others in a similiar position can also receive this unique treatment.

Thanks again for sponsoring me
