UPDATE - UPDATE - UPDATE We Made it!

On 19th July we finished our journey from Glasgow and triumphantly entered the Piazza Palazzo di Citta in Turin escorted by Police motorcycle with sirens and flashing blue lights!  All six of us were overwhelmed by our reception which was laid on by my niece Angie, her colleague Cristina and the fantastic guys from Re Calamaro not to mention the piper and his musicians.  Re Calamaro laid on food and drink for our arrival and this was much appreciated.

After giving interviews to a TV crew, we were invited into the Town Hall by the Mayor's deputy and after speeches and photos we presented him with the letter of greetings from the Lord Provost of Glasgow which we had taken with us.

Cristina had organised a surprise welcoming committee at our hotel on the morning of our last day.  About twenty cyclists including the aforementioned Re Calamaro guys accompanied us on the last 50 K of our journey and cleared the way for us as we entered Turin.

From July 5th to 19th we are cycling between the twin cities of Glasgow and  Turin to raise money for Cystic Fibrosis.  That's 1116 km through Scotland, Belgium, France, Switzerland and Italy.  We will cross the Alps over the 2469m St Bernard's Pass.

Two of the group have a special reason for raising money for Cystic Fibrosis.  Donald's grand-daughter and Laura's niece Abigail is nine and lives with CF.  As well as frequent visits to hospital for intravenous injections, she requires twice daily physiotherapy sessions and medication to help her in her fight against CF.  Please give generously and help find a cure.

As a forerunner to the main event, Donald and Abigail's dad, Christopher, cycled 250 miles from Barrow in Furness to Govan in Glasgow to Rosyth in Fife on 23rd to 26th May.  This linked the three northerly sites of BAE systems and Babcocks.  We also linked the Barrow, Glasgow and Edinburgh offices of Jacobs. Christopher is an engineer with Jacobs who have major contracts with BAE in Barrow.  Thanks to all at Jacobs and BAE for their support.  Click for PHOTOS.

For individuals, donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure.  It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: The Cystic Fibrosis Trust will receive your gift faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no extra cost to you.

Please sponsor us now.

Many thanks for your support
